Taiwan Itinerary Day 4 (Part 2): Tamsui, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, and Ximending

I had never regretted the decision to visit Taiwan and explore its rich natural resources and food culture. I couldn’t even believe that we were already on our fourth day in the place (insert sad face here).

So here I am trying to reminisce the continuation of our day four adventures. Picking up from Part 1, the next part of our itinerary was to visit Tamsui and enjoy its beautiful sunset, see the famous Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, and of course, to explore another night market – Ximending!

Bus Schedule from Yehliu to Tamsui

Just a step back from our last point, you would remember that we came from Yehliu Geopark. Hence, from here, we will be hopping on Bus 862 (and please remember this) going to Tamsui MRT Station.

TAMSUI MRT STATION

When we reached Tamsui MRT Station, we had a brief moment to go to the seaside then, waited for the sunset. I had to admit that the sunset in Tamsui was really amazing.

Me at Tamsui

Sun sets in Taiwan as early as 05:00 PM, so if you intend to catch this adorable view, you have to be there on or before this time.

After a brief moment in Tamsui basking in the wonderful sunset, we rode a train going back to Taipei (red line), then transferred to Songshan-Xindian Line (green) to see Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.

CHIANG KAI-SHEK MEMORIAL HALL

Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall is truly magnificent at night!

Chiang Kai Shek Amazing

The National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall was built as a tribute to Chiang Kai-shek – the former President of China.

What to See in Chiang Kai-Shek

Initially, we put Chiang Kai-shek as a placeholder in case we won’t be able to make it on time to Taipei. We were so glad we pushed for our itinerary and really visited the place, otherwise, we should have missed this opportunity to see the memorial hall in its glorious state.

The entire place at night looks so magical with all the glowing lights around the area.

Finally, after a brief walk around Chiang Kai-shek, we headed to our final destination for the day – Ximending!

XIMENDENG

Direction: Take a train from Chiang Kai-shek Station to Ximen Station. This will take you four minutes at 20NT.

What to See in Ximending?

Ximending is another night market except that this is relatively big and upscale than Shilin. Restaurants are everywhere around the area and you can also shop for bags, accessories, and beauty products of your choice.

It was another fulfilling day for Ms. Travelingboots and her bestfriend. But always, the great part of every adventure is the fact that after every trip, our world expands along with our perspective in life.
